The distinction between Psychics and Mediums can be oh so confusing!
Many believe the terms are interchangeable, however this is not the case.
Psychics give information about the past, the present, or even the future, but not deliver messages from the other side of the veil, while Mediums raise their vibration high enough to connect to the other side of the veil.
Therefore when you are considering a intuitive tarot card or any kind of oracle reading session, be sure that you feel comfortable with this person.. All Psychics are NOT Mediums however ALL Mediums ARE Psychics.
The word psychic is said to be first recorded in 1855–60, originating from the Greek word psȳchikós, meaning “of the soul.”
Psychic and Medium aren’t always synonyms, however both have that spooky, cosmic or supernatural connotation, however they have distinct meanings as adjectives but not nouns.
As an adjective, psychic means “of or relating to the human soul or mind,” or something mental as opposed to physical.
It’s also defined in psychology as “pertaining to or noting mental phenomena,” which describes being in tune to some non physical force or agency. Like for example it might be used in context of something to the sort of... Hearing that colors can provoke a psychic response, one might choose to paint the room a regal purple to give the feeling of wisdom and royalty.
Psychic can also mean “sensitive to influences or forces of a non physical or supernatural nature.” So if someone or something is influenced by a mysterious force that’s outside physical science or knowledge, it’s a psychic influence.
As an adjective, some synonyms for psychic are spiritual, supernatural, cosmic, paranormal, psychological, and even metaphysical as mentioned before.
Psychic used as a noun, refers to “a person who is sensitive to psychic influences or forces” which is the sense it is used here for the purpose of what it is that the Mystic of New Orleans is referring to. For example, since she was a little girl, Anastasia's auntie has sworn she’s a Psychic and can tell when something good will happen.
The distinction between Mediums and Psychics can be oh so confusing!
Many believe the terms are interchangeable, however this is not the case.
Mediums raise their vibration high enough to connect to the other side of the veil while Psychics give information about the past, the present, or even the future, but not deliver messages from the other side of the veil.
All Psychics are NOT Mediums however ALL Mediums ARE Psychics. So when you are considering a Medium session or Seance session, be sure that you feel comfortable with this person.
DO keep in mind that the doors to the spiritual realms are wide open in a Medium session or Seance session whereas it takes a well seasoned Medium to assist in the navigation making sure everyone stays where they ought too plus spirits don’t go further than they are welcomed.
A Medium is able to communicate and connect with the dead, the spirits, the ancestors, the pets, the guides or even the psychic imprint of a place.
In doing so, Mediums receive more specific messages to provide comfort or closure by connecting the living inquiring person(s)/client(s) to a deceased family member(s), friend(s), pet(s) or guardian(s) plus actual places where something either very tragic or beautiful has transpired leaving a psychic imprint.
Sometimes Mediums are able to lighten the possible fear of death as well as aid in the grieving process.
What Does It Mean to Be a Psychic Medium?
Well for most Mediums, like mentioned above, the process of connecting with the dead utilizes psychic abilities, hence making these Mediums inherently Psychic. The role of a Psychic Medium becomes dual in the sense of offering soul coaching for the navigation of ones evolution as well as information from beyond the veil which can provide great comfort, relief, and meaning to inquiring person(s)/client(s) soul, heart, spirit.
A Psychic Medium is there to assist the inquiring person(s)/client(s) find their path in life, heal from grief or other metaphysical wounds. Like I say and from my perspective.......Psychic Mediums assist you with the evolution of your soul to be the best you require to be and soulshine bright.
Now individuals seeking to receive information about their future or current experiences will more commonly seek out a Psychic unless they believe a spirit of a deceased loved one would be an appropriate resource. It is important to remember this when receiving a reading from a Medium, because the Medium may connect with an unexpected spirit, so it is advised to have minimal expectations before attending such a session.
A Medium According to Webster's dictionary.....
"A Medium is a person through whom others seek to communicate with spirits of the dead."
A little History and background .....
Mediumship is better known within the circles of the Spiritualist Movement. While not to delve into the long history of mediumship dating to the British Isles, here in North America it was first introduced around 1848 in New York State. The word Medium originates from the Latin word medius (“middle”) and was first seen in English between 1575–85. Synonyms for Medium as a noun in this sense of being able to contact the dead include Spiritualist, Clairvoyant, Mind Reader, and Fortune Teller.
The main purpose of a Medium is to bring closure and comfort to the bereaved. This is rightly so in instances where a loved one is tragically and suddenly taken, hence leaving an unanswered gap causing insurmountable grief for those left behind.
There is an ongoing debate as to the differences between a Channeler and a Medium. Although the words are quite often used interchangeably, die-hard Mediums will emphatically point out that they are definitely not the same, maintaining that Mediumship is a specialty and much harder to learn, plus attain.
While this may be true about "physical mediumship", when it comes to "mental mediumship", it is felt that the gap closes drastically.
When learning mediumship, it is divided into specific classifications, physical and mental, with precise learning techniques for each.
Generally you will learn "mental" mediumship before "physical", that is if you are drawn to learn "physical" at all as it is not everyone's cup of tea.
Physical Mediumship uses a deep, focused trance state (low theta to low delta 4.89 to 3 Hz) in which the Medium serves as a temporary vehicle for spirit to communicate. In other words, the Medium vacates the physical body to allow spirit to temporarily use it.
Physical Mediumship can also encompass phenomena such as:
Mental Mediumship is the more commonly used form of communication where information is received from deceased loves ones.
In Mental Mediumship, a Medium may go into a light trance state (low alpha 9.89 to 8.2 Hz) with eyes closed or may prefer to keep their eyes open, while remaining in a slightly altered conscious state of mind. The Medium remains in full control over their body. It is this type of mediumship that channelling is often interchanged with.
Oracles, tarot cards, a scrying mirror or spirit board, crystal ball or any divination tools for that matter, are to be used in such a manner in which to assist in educating you, for your highest good, with the evolution of your soul.
The information of the story shared comes from unconditional love, and is NOT set in "stone."
Yes, it IS possible to "look deeper" with adding more cards, runes or whatever to have further clarification IF you so chose to use the wisdom of the story shared.
You do have free will after all.....
The story shared is saying IF you so chose to take such actions, or not, that are reflected within the divination tool, that is the probable outcome.
YOU have the free will to change it if you want since now it has been brought into your awareness.
Fallacy #1 Tarot are Evil
Reading tarot is NOT evil and witchcraft. Sorry, nope. No you will not go to hell. Keep in mind as it is important to remember, that tarot cards are not inherently religious, nor are they antireligious. After all, tarot readings have been taking place for many many centuries.
Usually they are used as a divination tool, as a conduit for spiritual energy, as a form of self-reflection, and for spiritual growth. How you use them is truly entirely up to you. Tarot readings are a fun and enlightening tool in which to gain insight into yourself and the world around you. They tell a story of your soul and heart as so you are able to evolve. Or not. Again, your choice. Your will. True, they may not be suitable for everyone hence it is important to consider your own spiritual beliefs, boundaries and practice.
Again, you are using your higher self, plus your intuitiveness which is guided by the Source, or God….whatever you call it….for your highest good. It IS divine. Now granted it is possible to use such tools incorrectly just like using any thing good can be bad. Like for instance, ice cream and root beer are fabulous in root beer floats, however drinking too many and eating a fried shrimp poboy , onion rings along with all that might not be a good thing for your tummy you know?
A good practice for seeking an intuitive tarot session is to vet any potential tarot readers and find out what kind of approach is taken with their readings before committing. Do they ask any questions up front (not a good indication)? Do they say a prayer? How long have they been reading? Or any question you feel is appropriate. A reputable reader will be happy to answer any questions you may have about their methods and be more than willing to offer any clarity upfront as so that you feel comfortable moving forward with a reading.
Personally, I do not ask any questions other than your name and permission to read you. Actually, I request that not thing is shared/said until after the session, only conformation of a acknowledgment as something was “hit on” during the session. Ultimately, it is up to you. Trust your gut instincts, trust your intuition and decide if that tarot reader is right for you. It isn’t one size fits all. We are all different frequencies hence we all do not resonate in harmony with each other, and that is alright.
Fallacy #2 It is easy to learn Tarot by yourself
Well sort of, however not really. While it is possible to learn Tarot on your own, and true, there are aspects, you will learn by yourself inherently uniquely knowing what is correct for YOU because there are no real set rules, only suggestive guidelines. Nevertheless, it is better to bounce off others, having external support to enhance your learning because of the many different reflections and experiences you will have had with such interactions. That empowers you whereas you remember more, and faster, than if done alone.
By seeing how other people interpret readings along with the guided common belief associated with that card, you can see how super easy Tarot can be read. That’s why I personally suggest to take such courses like the ones I offer of Essential or Elevated Master Tarot. Such courses empower you while removing any doubt that might be there with providing a stronger foundation whereas you confidently deliver with intuitiveness and clarity. Making it super easy and fun.
Fallacy #3 You can not read intuitively if you do not "throw the book away"
This is totally BS and sooooo not true! Such books that accompany your deck are great for references hence DO keep your books and use them. As I mentioned above there are no set rules, just suggested guidelines because there are many different Tarot meanings to one card. No matter how many meanings you learn, you still have to use your intuition in what the story is that is laid out in front of you. Realize you keep developing, refining your intuition along the way. This is always in flux. Your frequency/vibe changes, so will your intuition. Actually, I encourage you to read as many books that “call to you” as you can. You might be surprised how all these aspects tie into one another. IF you like to learn more about your intuition, then take my course, Enlighten your Soul, soulshine.
Fallacy #4 Professional Tarot readers do not require to learn more
Man oh man……this right here is BS for sure. Always keep an open mind and never stop learning. Period. I have been reading for about half a century now and I always discover something new.
There are many of my clients whom are Professional Readers who have taken my courses because they desire to expand their knowledge plus make their readings easier having more deeper clarity. No matter what practical experience and where they are within their knowledge, some readers just like to have the opinion of another reader.
